You can enjoy fishing at Winnibigoshish Lake

Lake Winnibigoshish is a body of water in north central Minnesota in the Chippewa national forest. Minnesota is the place situated in the Midwestern region of United States the twelfth largest state by area in US. The name of this lake comes from the Ojibwe language Winibiigoozhish meaning putridly stagnant waters. The former Winnibigoshish Township located on the north shore of lake was named as Itasca country, Minnesota after this lake. Lake Winnie is surrounded by other lakes such at cut foot Sioux, little cut foot, Dixon Lake and little Winnie, these lake add diversity and beauty to this area. Guests and local alike agree that the lake Winnie is one of its kinds.

There is no other lake in northern Minnesota that has a reputation like Lake Winnie, through the years it has become known as the lake to fish for perch through the ice. It also offers excellent walleye fishing, northern fishing and crappie fishing, with more than 67,000 acres Winnibigoshish literally offers miles of angling opportunities matched by few other fisheries in the state. With plenty of water in the lake Winnie offers an abundance of walleye habitat it weights 3 to f 4 pounds it also holds huge number of northern muskie, perch, crappie and bass.

In winter we can find ourselves in an ice house were we can fish through the ice. During winter here there will be places were we can take of the boots and warm our feet by a cracking fire. A special regulation on Winnie’s walleye says that anglers must immediately release any walleye measuring between 17” and 26” and may be in possession of only one walleye over 26” the open season for walleye, northern pike, muskie and bass closes on February 25th 2007. Anglers may still legally fish for jumbo perch, crappie and pan fish through ice out.
